Why do we use Bamboo at Sunbe Design for our yoga clothes?

  • No pesticides, fertilizers or insecticides are used in the growing
  • Bamboo uses only rainwater to grow. Every step counts for our planet protection.
  • It doesn't need vast lands to grow as it can grow very densely.
  • It also produces 30% more oxygen & absorbs more carbon dioxide than trees
  • The bamboo tree grows up to 1 meter a day with some species growing up to 30m tall
  • New stems can be harvested again and again making bamboo one of the most sustainable raw materials in the world

 

Which advantages are there for the bamboo fabric?

  • Contains an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal bio-agent which is retained through the fabrication process and even after washing many, many times. This property makes all our clothes odor-resistant.
  • Extremely hypo-allergenic which is great for eczema sufferers and those with sensitive skin
  • Feels great as it is a very soft fabric and very gentle on the skin: it is like a second skin which is great for yoga practice or to wear simply every day.
  • Has a neutral charge which makes it anti-static, so no more clinging clothes

A little bit more about the Bamboo Fiber

           In order to produce high-quality bamboo fabric, a process must be used with a non-toxic solvent in order to break down the bamboo pulp. Crushed bamboo is soaked in the solvent to produce cellulose. Once the cellulose fiber is made, all of the water and solvent used in the process is filtered out and reused so the entire process is eco-friendly and done in a closed-loop system.

           There could be some concern that the chemicals used are harmful, but when used responsibly like for our garments, it has absolutely no effect on the environment and workers’ health. It is routinely used in the processing of organic cotton into fiber and is approved by the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and the Soil Association. It is also widely used in everything from soap production to food preparation. We can also add that it does not remain as a residue on bamboo clothing since it easily washes away.     We recommand you to follow these steps to keep your bikinis beautiful for a very long time :) : 
  • While wearing, mind of the surfaces you are lying, sitting or leaning on. You can damage the fabric if the surface is too abrasive
  • Avoid putting the bikinis in contact with tanning oils or your sunscreen products as it may alter the quality and the color.
  • Avoid going in over salty or over chlorinated water with our bikinis as the color may fade.
  • After use, rinse your swimwear in cold water, hand wash it ( no washing machine) and dry flat in shade.
